ABOUT THE AUTHORS WILLIAM F. KUHLKE III William Kuhlke is a retired Navy Captain and pilot whose specialty is anti-submarine warfare. He is a graduate of Marietta College (Marketing), and did post-graduate work at the University of Texas. He has worked in packaging design, sales and consulting, where he specialized in pharmaceutical packaging. As a Florida state-certified general contractor and Pennsylvania contractor before that, Kuhlke built more than 360 residences and larger commercial buildings. He began writing seriously over five years ago. While working on a trilogy about Naval Aviation, he decided to set that project aside and write the biography of his step mother, Friedl Hanewald Kuhlke’s early life. He has begun working on a sequel to Friedl, tentatively entitled Friedl: After the War, and continues to work on the navy trilogy. He lives in Stuart, Florida with his wife, Carol, a music teacher. They have two grown daughters and two and a half grandchildren.
MARILYN MURRAY WILLISON Former Health and Fitness Editor for the Los Angeles Times-Syndicate and a working journalist in London for the Sunday Times, Willison has written for The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Miami Herald, Publisher’s Weekly, Ladies Home Journal, Cosmopolitan, and Allure as well as numerous other newspapers and magazines. She was recently named Contributing Editor (Travel) of WE Magazine, a national glossy publication for the disabled, their friends and families. Willison is the author of three non-fiction books, Diary of a Divorced Mother, Wynden Books (1980) and Bantom Books (1981); Time Enough For Love, Bantom (1983) and The Self-Confidence Trick, Weidenfeld & Nickolson, UK (1988). During her years as a journalist, Willison interviewed celebrities ranging from Paul McCartney and Audrey Hepburn to Jane Seymour and Michael Caine. While on her extensive book promotion tours, she appeared on TV programs hosted by Dinah Shore and Regis Philbin, and was interviewed by a wide variety of radio personalities and newspaper reporters. The mother of two grown sons, Ms. Willison lives in West Palm Beach, Florida with her husband. |
